It's "Falling"!

 for Mommy and Daddy!

Getting started cleaning up the back porch...
Nothing like inviting company for a cookout to get you  motivated! This chick brooder was one of the first things to go!(They'll have to find somewhere else to grow up, because this is slated to become my "beach-themed people room", lol!) I'll plan to share pictures as things progress. We are still re-doing my daughter's room. 

Here are updated pictures of the back screenporch--
minus the chick brooder and gardening paraphernalia! Still
a way to go, but certainly a step in the right direction. This is as far as I got before company came over the other night!

This antique sink and cabinet came with the house when we bought it. I plan to restore it. It would be great to get it functioning
again out there, but I'm not sure how feasible that is.
The greenhouse window is in the dining room, and is rather odd. I cover it with drapery, and store books and things in it.
It is an older home that has been added onto over the years, and the rooms have had different assignments.

With the hint of Fall in the air, I get a hankerin' for all kinds of fresh-baked goodies!
HAD to make these cinnamon/caramel-frosted biscuits the other morning--YUM!

My husband and son felled some trees in the front recently.
They worked in some terrible heat, but we're all looking
forward to the revitalization that cooler Fall weather brings!

Where There's Beauty....There's hope!

A Perfect day for drying the laundry...Typically, I only hang towels and bedding these days, but for years I hung ALL of the laundry (for 7 people!) to be able to afford to use the air conditioner in the summer!

"Before" pics of our screen porch.  I know what you're thinking..."That woman has no pride!", lol. Well, hopefully we will be renovating it for people use soon : ) It has held a goat, dogs, and baby chicks-so cleaning and fresh paint/decorating are badly needed...I was thinking about making it my "beach" themed room. It aleady got a new roof after we had leaking in the adjacent laundry room during windy rainstorms, so just a light-fan needed there. The dry sink has become a depository for all kinds of garden do dads...

The shadows cast by gray cloud, brighten.

Seek her while she may be found by you-before your senses senseless be to you.

Draw her close! Show her value!

Give her reason to continue

To pursue your

Appreciation.

For there is nary a poorer fellow

Who simply doesn’t see

The beauty that is all around him

To cherish, to promote

To be!

A Peek into Our Past!

As I look back, I see so many ways that we have been blessed! May I encourage you to do the same? Honestly, there have been some pretty tough times too--(We don't usually share those.) We've had heartaches with parenting, loved ones with cancer, uncertainty about jobs, an impossible list of things that need doing to name a few. Just like you, we struggle. BUT that's one of the main reasons why I chose to concentrate on the BEAUTY FOR LIVING that IS there in each of our lives! I want to discipline myself to look for and be appreciative of those things. Spring is Beginning to Bloom All Around!

     Greetings from Uphill Farm---our little corner of rolling southern USA! Today was amazingly beautiful!...The birds were tweeting, the breeze was blowing, the fruit trees were budding and blooming, the honeybees were buzzing, the horses were grazing (tails and manes waving gently), the clouds were sailing overhead, the goat kids were frolicking....Well, you get the idea ; )

     As this is a blog about beauty of all kinds, I wanted to share some tips that I have regarding how we ladies can pamper ourselves a bit in the area of skincare and fragrance. One idea that occurred to me is to NOT wash or wipe the residue of anti-aging moisturizer (I'm currently using AVON's ANEW Ultimate line)

off of your hands when you finish that step of your routine, but rather, add a drop of water to your palm, rub hands together gently to mix, and then apply to the backs of both hands! If you're like me, your hands are very hard working, and could use some beautification...especially as I would like to get solar nails for my birthday, and more attention will be drawn to my hands. I think I will begin to do this daily as well as using the same skincare steps to my neck and upper chest as I do my face--a lesson that I learned years ago! 

     The second tip that I wanted to share is to spritz some of your fave fragrance (mine is currently Imari Seduction by AVON-''A captivating scent of luscious plum and purple orchid and dark rose with tantalizing hints of warm vanilla. ")

The Pace is Picking Up Around the Farm...

It was a sunny, warm day here in the southeastern USA. The honeybees have finally begun to visit the various blossoms needing pollinating, though I haven't seen them on the one apple that is blooming yet. They were all over the camillias though! (See above collage)


I had my oldest grandchild helping with chores...Here you can see the raspberries are badly in need of weeding!

View from above the pool...I like to plant a spring garden just in front of the fence. I've already dumped a couple wheelbarrow loads from the goat barn earlier this winter, and also empty a container of kitchen compost every day there.That combination seems to really build the soil, as we've gotten a good report from the county extension office! I'll post soon how we've planted it...

During leisure time, we like to have a puzzle on-going! The current project is a coffee-themed one gifted to me at Christmas from my sister---Thanks Les! I have designated this antique tabletop to just that purpose:

The weather is supposed to be sunny and 60's today, so I'd better plan to get moving this morning!
